I love it when worlds connect. I could say collide, but that has a negative connotation and this story is anything but negative.
I first met Kerry O’Reilly (now Kerry O’Reilly Wilks, Head of Legal, North America & UK at Vale) in 1995 in our first year of undergrad at Dalhousie University in Halifax. We lived in residence together – long before we were lawyers and long before either of us moved to Toronto. Kerry was a force of nature even then – ridiculously smart, warmly generous, and hilariously funny.
In 2014, Kerry gave birth to her son Malachy, a brother for big sister Mairirois. Malachy was 7 weeks early and weighed just over 3lbs. Malachy received quality care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St. Michael’s Hospital in downtown Toronto. Thankfully, Malachy is now a healthy and happy toddler thanks to his “Angels” in the NICU at St. Mike’s.
So how did Kerry and her husband Lloyd Wilks (Managing Director at CounselQuest) give back? By creating Malachy’s Soiree – a sold out fundraising event in its 2nd year that has raised more than $450K for St. Michael’s Hospital. Like I said, Kerry is a force.
ALT is proud to be a supporter of Malachy’s Soiree. We look forward to seeing you on September 29th. Be sure to read more and check out the silent auction at http://www.malachyssoiree.org/.
